Is Blockchain the Next Great Technology?

Blockchain is generating a lot of interest these days. However, not everyone is sold on its use. So, we thought that we would do the only sensible thing, and open it up for debate. Which we will be publishing here on All Hallows Eve (October 31st) as a spooky Halloween treat for all of those interested in the topic of blockchain.

Who Will Be Doing the Debating?

To do the debating, we brought in a couple serial entrepreneurs. One of which feels that blockchain has created a fundamental shift in the world of business. And one who, admittedly thinks it shows some promise, but isn’t sold on its capabilities to help the average business.

Kurt Grela, Founder and Tour Guide at 101 Blockchain St.

All in Favor

Kurt started 101 Blockchain St. to help people understand and invest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies. He believes the whole ecosystem is a multi-trillion dollar global opportunity for financial services, supply chain, identity and privacy management. Current value is around $200 billion.

It’s less about giving away data and more about industry collaboration and improved efficiencies where a ledger can be referenced.

All Opposed

Steve co-founded Ever Evolving with a goal of helping companies innovate more efficiently. One of his favorite saying is, “it’s not whether something can be built, but should it be built.” And that thought process has led to his questioning the viability for blockchain to help business leaders.

With blockchain’s open ledger approach to record keeping, businesses will be committing to an approach that, by definition, gives away their competitive advantage. It is tough to remain profitable if your competitors can openly and continuously leverage the very technology that should be your key differentiator.
